Don’t Chase the Blessing. Chase the One Who Blesses.
God,
I have been thinking about the woman who had been suffering from bleeding for twelve years.
Twelve years of pain. Twelve years of waiting. Twelve years of hoping for something to change.
And then she heard about Jesus.
The crowd around Him was huge. People were everywhere, surrounding Him, touching Him, walking with Him.
But this woman’s touch was different.
She did not just reach out because she happened to be close to Him.
She came with faith.
She said:
“If I touch even His garments, I will be made well.” (Mark 5:28)
She did not let fear stop her.
She did not focus on all the reasons why it might not happen.
She did not stand there wondering:
“What if I touch Him and nothing changes?”
Her eyes were fixed on Jesus.
So she moved toward Him.
She took the step.
And when she touched His garment, she was healed.
Jesus stopped and asked:
“Who touched My garments?”
The disciples did not understand, because there were so many people around Him. Many people had touched Him.
But Jesus knew.
He knew this touch was different.
Because this was not just a physical touch.
It was a touch filled with faith.
And then Jesus said to her:
“Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” (Mark 5:34)
This story reminds me that my part is to keep coming to You.
To seek You.
Not only what You can give me, but You.
Because I do not want to chase the blessing more than I chase the One who blesses.
I want to stop coming to You with endless questions and fears:
What if it never happens? What if my prayers are not answered the way I hope? What if I am waiting for something that will never come?
Instead, I want to come to You like this woman did.
With a heart that says:
“Jesus, I don’t know when. I don’t know how. But I know that I need You.”
I will take the step toward You.
I will pray.
I will believe.
I will trust.
And I will leave the rest in Your hands.
Because You see me.
You notice me.
You know every silent prayer, every longing, every tear.
And just like You saw that woman in the crowd,
You see me too.
You are not asking me to chase a blessing.
You are inviting me to chase You.
And I trust that when I reach for You,
You already know my name.
Amen.
